Q&A

What was your favorite book as a child?

I adored Astrid Lindgren's “The Brothers Lionheart” as a child, and I still keep a copy on my bookshelf. My brother took great care of me when we were small (he still does), which must be part of the reason why the novel strikes such a chord with me.

Do you remember the original reason or motivation why you started writing creatively?

There is no single reason that I could name... But I remember how excited I was when I was first taught to read and write, and I guess that original sense of magic has never worn off.

What was the most adventurous or thrilling thing you ever did/experienced?

Reading “Lolita” and “Wuthering Heights” was among the more thrilling things I did. And I went on a chainsaw course once, which I thought was rather adventurous.

Do you listen to music while reading or writing?

I admire people who can process different inputs at the same time, but sadly I am not one of them: Music distracts me when I read or write. (I'd never stop listening to Lyle Lovett if it didn't.)
