Bio

Sam Dapanas (Alton Melvar M Dapanas) (they/them) is a queer essayist, poet, and translator from the southern Philippines. Author of three books of prose-poems and lyric essays including M of the Southern Downpours (Australia: Downingfield Press, 2024), their works have been published from South Africa to Japan, France to Singapore, and translated into Chinese, Damiá, German, and Swedish. Their writings and translations have appeared in World Literature TodayBBC Radio 4, Michigan Quarterly ReviewSant Jordi Festival of Books, Wasafiri, and the anthologies Infinite Constellations (University of Alabama Press) and He, She, They, Us: Queer Poems (Macmillan UK).
