Malavika M Nair is a 21-year-old undergraduate hailing from a very wooded nook of the Western Ghats hills in the south of India.
What was your favorite book as a child?
As a child my favourite book, the first one that I remember, was a children’s copy of the myth of Hercules my mother used to read to me. Later on, when I learned to read myself, it was an encyclopedic dictionary with etymologies, from Webster’s, I think.
What was the original reason or motivation why you started writing creatively?
It’s just something I’ve always done. Since I was a kid I used to write some rudimentary poetry and everyone seemed very approving of that, so I stuck with it.
What was the most adventurous or thrilling thing you ever did/experienced?
I can’t think of anything specific. A lot of them involve taking random, dark or “not permitted” roads.
Do you listen to music while reading or writing?
Yes! Sometimes I make curated playlists for books or listen to premade ones even. The right song puts everything in the right place.
