Half open mic, half get-together, this event will bring a perfect close to our two-day book launch and give everybody the chance to enjoy literature in the company of fellow readers & writers, all while enjoying some tasty brews and drinks, and later shaking to the beats of DJ Vulverine and Cat Gadget (Grrrls DJ Crew).
The highlight of the evening will be an open mic-style competition between the best texts and the best performances, to be structured as follows:
Contestants can either sign up with their self-written English-language texts and/or as readers (you will not perform your own text!);
each reader will be randomly assigned one of the available texts;
each text, with a maximum length of 800 words, will be read in front of the audience;
each member of the audience will then cast their vote, either for the text or for the performance;
the winner of each round will be awarded a free drink of their choice!
All of this in a warm, cozy, and friendly atmosphere, where words and performance will battle it out to the last drop of precious beer (or other celebratory libations of your choice)!
Pro tip: You don’t have to be a professional writer or performer to participate; all levels/styles/genres/… are welcome!
