Afro-Asian Institute, Leechgasse 24, A-8010 Graz
With Vanesa Erjavec.
***
This course facilitated by Vanesa Erjavec will begin with a short theoretical introduction on illustration styles and processes. We will get to know how artists create an illustration, from reading the piece to visually interpreting it, by examples from both traditional and digital art.
The practical part of the workshop will consist of creating your very own illustration. You will be able to choose a poem or short story from the Tinted Trails anthology, and translate it to paper using various media (pencils, watercolours, markers, etc.). If you have your own drawing tablet or an iPad with a pen and drawing app (Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, etc.)*, you are welcome to bring it with you to the workshop.
Also, during the practical part, there will be plenty of time to ask any questions to Tint Journal’s art editor and Tinted Trails anthology illustrator.
*If you decide to use a drawing app of choice, please be familiar with it as we won’t have enough time to learn these programs at the workshop. Traditional media and tools will be provided.
